It is your responsibility to seek the professional services of your Veterinarian for the inspection of anal glands, the internal anal areas and the internal vertical and horizontal ear canal to ensure proper function and health and not the responsibility of a dog groomer.
Anal glands are visually checked for a healthy appearance only by your dog groomer.
Ear Health and Ear Plucking. Excess hair found around the opening or auricular part of the ear canal will be cleared as part of our hygiene service.
Hair and ear wax or plugs inside the ear canal should be removed under your veterinarian’s supervision. Ear hair removal from deep inside the ear may cause or exacerbate ear infections, and as such, it is your vet’s responsibility. Your vet should inspect the ear canal after removing excessive hair and wax plugs in case irritation or damage may have impacted ear health.
FCL offers a free consultation where you and your dog can meet us for the first time and have a look & sniff around. We can advise you on how to best take care of your dogs’ coat and skin for optimal condition, discuss styling options, and give you an accurate price for grooming before making your first appointment. We think it is essential to know where your dog is going for their grooming needs so that you and your dog feel completely comfortable and reassured.
We want you to know that your dog is in caring and qualified hands. Coming to see us for a consultation before making an appointment isn’t always necessary, particularly for dogs that need little grooming and styling work. Still, for those who do this allows us to plan and give your pet the individual care, time and attention they may need.
If the coat has some mats and tangles to deal with, we can then incorporate extra time into the session without disrupting our next customer appointment. If the coat is heavily or severely matted/felted, it would be helpful for you to read our Terms and Conditions of Service before contacting us regarding your dogs’ coat being in reasonable condition for grooming.

Keral-Prof Features: provides shine and a silky texture. Professional conditioning shampoo. It removes the dirt with a very gentle action. It cleanses without altering the rough and semi-rough texture of the coat. It strengthens the keratin structure of the hair and skin and protects from the environment. It contains surface-active agents based on natural ingredients to avoid weakening the hair during treatment in the bath; in addition, it restores the keratinisation of the hair. Enriched with egg albumin and saccharin to harden and restructure the coat, it provides volume. Regular use of this product provides excellent nourishment and conditioning for the coat. It does not alter the texture of the coat.
If you are an existing, registered FCL Customer we want to ensure that your dogs’ nails are healthy and feeling great all the time. We may not see your dog again for several weeks between grooming. If your dogs’ nails need cutting please call in and ask us to clip them, free of charge. For non-registered dogs, we will trim your dogs’ nails for a fee of £8.00 and add our Re-Silk protective and nourishing serum to the coat for good measure.
It is really important to introduce your puppy to the world of grooming in the right way! A puppy should ideally be introduced to the salon environment soon after their final vaccinations. We aim to settle your puppy in with a gentle bath, brush & blow dry before trimming around the eyes and feet. We’ll introduce your puppy to nail trimming too. This is just enough of a challenge without being scary. We want your puppy to enjoy coming back to FCL far into the future. Then, on the next visit, your puppy should be ready for a longer stay to trim and style the coat to your specifications.
An absence of regular effective brushing and home maintenance may result in your dog’s coat being out of condition or matted. The extra time involved in reconditioning with our Professional De-Matting Solutions, De-Matting Shampoo and Conditioners will add a variable cost to the overall groom of your pet. However, we will significantly improve the condition of your dog’s coat.
Please CLICK HERE for information if your dog requires Clipping/Shaving off due to a Heavily Matted Coat.
If your pet has fleas, we need to contain the situation and thoroughly treat the areas your dog has been in contact with to prevent fleas from passing to other dogs in our care, adding to the cost of grooming.
A soiling charge may apply if your dog has diarrhoea that requires an additional bath.
