Important Service Update for New Registrations and Appointments

Grooming Services Notice

Due to high demand, we are currently unable to provide new grooming services for large to giant breeds. This policy does not affect any dog currently registered and already receiving FCL Grooming Services.

High Demand for Grooming Services

Our grooming services have become increasingly popular, leading to a fully booked schedule. Unfortunately, this means we cannot currently accommodate large to Giant Breeds, which require additional groomers, double-size rest cages, resources, and time.

We recognise the importance of grooming for all pets, but due to our current capacity, we must focus on providing the highest quality service possible to those we can accommodate.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to manage our resources effectively.

Specialist Coat Types and Breeds

Several large and smaller dog breeds pose significant grooming challenges due to their dense, double-layered coats, which require specialised techniques for maintenance, including those with woolly mixed coats. These breeds should receive proper care and attention from owners, who must provide the necessary behavioural training, equipment, time, and space to maintain these coat types at home, supported by professional groomers. However, reliance on professional services should be balanced with consideration of the frequency and cost involved in owning these specialist breeds.

Breeds We Cannot Accommodate

Groomers may refuse to accept dogs for several reasons, primarily related to safety and the well-being of both the dog and the groomer.

Common reasons include aggression, extreme anxiety, or medical conditions that make grooming unsafe or too complex. Groomers also consider factors such as the dog’s temperament, size, and past grooming experiences, the owner’s ability to manage the dog’s behaviour, and the dog’s requirements for regular, effective home grooming to maintain a healthy coat between professional grooming appointments.

Our current operation does not support the grooming needs of Malamutes.

We are unable to provide grooming services for Huskies at this time.

Newfoundlands

Newfoundlands require specialised attention that we cannot currently offer due to time constraints.

Bernese Mountain Dogs

Due to resource constraints, we cannot groom Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Irish Wolfhounds

Our grooming policy requires two groomers to handle the grooming needs of Irish Wolfhounds, which we are currently unable to accommodate.

Pyrenees

We are currently unable to accommodate the grooming needs of the Pyrenees Mountain Dog.

Old English Sheepdog

Old English Sheepdogs require an impeccable home grooming routine. Due to the time constraints, we are currently unable to meet the grooming requirements of the Old English sheepdog.

Briard

Briards, with their long, double coats, require consistent grooming to maintain their appearance and prevent matting. These breeds are often presented  without proper care and attention; therefore, we are currently unable to meet the grooming needs of this breed due to time constraints.

Leonberger

We are currently unable to accommodate the grooming needs of the Leonberger.

Chow Chow

Chows, with their dense, double coats, require consistent grooming to maintain their appearance and prevent matting. These breeds are often presented without proper care and attention; therefore, we are currently unable to meet the grooming needs of this breed due to time constraints.

Giant Bull Breeds

Most grooming salons will avoid giant bull breeds, such as American Bullies, English Bullies, and American Staffordshire Terriers, due to concerns about size, strength, and potential aggression. FCL cannot accommodate these breeds due to its physical limitations in handling them.

Samoyeds

We are currently unable to accommodate the grooming needs of the Samoyed.

German Shepherd Dog

We are currently unable to accommodate the grooming needs of the GSD.

Complex Coat Types

Several large and smaller dog breeds present notable grooming challenges because of their dense, double coats, which need specialised techniques for upkeep. This includes corded breeds like the Spanish Water Dog.
