FURST CLASS LOUNGE

Services at extra cost

Our grooming prices are designed around dogs being maintained on a regular 6–8 week schedule, which helps keep both coat condition and appointment charges manageable.

When longer gaps occur between visits, coats can become matted, overgrown and more difficult to work with, requiring additional time and care. In these cases, a surcharge may be applied to cover the extra work involved.

We always recommend keeping to a regular grooming routine where possible—not only to keep your dog comfortable and happy, but also to help you avoid additional costs and maintain consistent pricing.

Pet grooming costs can vary depending on several factors. These include the quality of equipment and products used, the groomer’s experience, and general business expenses. Prices also depend on your pet’s breed, coat length and thickness, and the services requested.

If a coat is matted, extra time, labour, and products are needed, which increases the cost. Other factors may also affect pricing.

If your dog’s matting is mild, it can sometimes be brushed out using detangling sprays and tools. This takes time and may be uncomfortable, so it’s only suitable for small areas.

If you notice matting, do not bathe your dog—water will tighten the knots.

Bring your dog to FCL as soon as possible. Early treatment helps prevent skin issues and may save some coat length.

The amount of product used depends on how severe the matting is, which will affect the cost.

If de-matting products are required, an additional £5, £10, or £15 will be added to the final price.

This charge still applies even if the treatment does not fully remove the matted undercoat.

A matted coat can be very uncomfortable and sometimes painful for your dog.

If matting has been left too long and can’t be safely removed with our treatments, the coat may need to be clipped very short or taken down to the skin to keep your pet comfortable and pain-free.

Please have a look at our Terms and Conditions of Service for more information.

Everything You Need to Know about a Matted Coat!
When a pet’s coat becomes severely matted, it is necessary to clip off the entire coat. This process is more expensive than that of a regular groom.

Exceptional Quality and Performace

If it is determined that your dog’s coat needs to be clipped or shaved off, we must inform you that this service has a minimum fee, and we will require your consent.

For toy or small breeds, the fee is £70. For medium-sized dogs, it is £120; for large dogs, it is £190.

So that you know, we will not try to remove the coat of any dog not accustomed to grooming. This includes dogs unacclimatised to the grooming environment and procedures, puppies, juveniles, and dogs that exhibit nervous or fearful behaviour. In such cases, we recommend you seek advice from your veterinary practice.

If your pet is found to have fleas, we will take immediate action to help out the situation. This includes thoroughly treating the areas your dog has been in contact with to prevent the spread of fleas to other dogs in our care and using flea shampoo. So, as you know, this may result in additional grooming costs.

A soiling charge may apply if your dog has bowel and bladder movements that require an additional bath.

No-shows, Missed appointments, and cancellations without 24-hour notice will incur a fee of £15.00, payable at your next appointment.

Arriving 30 minutes or more late for appointments will, in most cases, require rescheduling. A missed appointment fee of £15.00 will be applied.
